Power Shut Down This AfternoonLink to this category

Centerpoint Energy is shutting down the electricity to all of Sea Isle, Isla Del Sol, Terramar, and Bay Harbor this afternoon at 1PM.  The shutdown is scheduled to last 4 hours.  Centerpoint is replacing a major pole.

Please prepare yourself to be without power for four hours.

Tennis Court Resurface CompleteLink to this category
The resurfacing of the tennis court is complete.  The court has been striped for both tennis and pickle ball.  Remember, the court is for humans only and no pets are allowed on he court at any time.

Save Our Shores - Remove Your Beach GearLink to this category
The City of Galveston recently passed a new ordinance requiring beachgoers to remove their gear from the beach at sunset.  They can put it back up at sunrise.

The new beach ordinance stipulates that items such as canopies, umbrellas, chairs and other personal property must not be left on the beach after sunset and before sunrise.  City of Galveston Ordinance 19-017 Secs. 8-27.

The city will tag personal items until June 29th, and after the 29th the items will be disposed of.

TWIA Votes To Increase Windstorm Rates 10%Link to this category
On 7/31/18 the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) voted 5 to 4 to increase insurance rates by 10%.  The increase will take effect 1/1/2019.  Rates have increased in Galveston 42% in the last 7 years.

Tropical Storm CindyLink to this category
As of the morning of June 20th, Tropical Storm Cindy has formed in the Gulf.  NOAA has the track has the storm coming ashore around the Texas/Louisiana border, while another private forecast has the storm making a slight westerly turn and coming ashore in Galveston.

Neither forecast has sustained winds exceeding 50 MPH with gusts to 60.  The storm could cause abnormally high tides and homeowners should pay attention to the forecasts as the storm approaches.

According to the forecasts, the storm should be inland on Friday the 23rd and be reduced to a large area of rain and thunderstorms.

First Tropical Storm Forms in PacificLink to this category
Tropical Storm Adrian formed in the Pacific on Wednesday, three weeks before Hurricane Season officially begins.  The forecast is for it to travel NW just off the Pacific coast of Mexico.  Some slow strengthening is forecasted over the next few days.
